Back in NYC with plenty of shoes and a brand new job
I got back to New York yesterday morning at 3:00 am after being delayed in Chicago for hours, all weather related of course. I slept for three short hours and then headed out to my final week of Teach for America Orientation downtown.
My trip to Indiana was fabulous and much, much too short. I ate, slept, talked and shopped. Period. That's all I had time to do. I'm happy to report that my great, great Aunt Lucille is still smiling and that her new crib meets my high standards. By the way, her apartment is about three times larger than mine.
While in Evansville, I had twelve glasses of iced tea, slept eight hours each night, and hugged about eleven people (only three of them being strangers). My grandmother bought me five pairs of fabulous shoes, two hot pads, four shirts, five sweaters, and one stylish rain coat. But, most importantly, I found out that I have one fantastic new job. I will be working at MS 328 in Washington Heights teaching sixth and seventh grade English as a Second Language. My principal is cheery and supportive and the school is new and ambitious. There are already two TFA teachers there who will be returning for their second year and two other new TFA teachers who will be starting with me in just a few short weeks. I am excited!
