Hallelujah
Today after work I took the A train all the way downtown to 53rd street and then walked east to Park Ave. I met with music minister of St. Bart's Episcopal church. He heard me sing a bit and then invited me to join the St. Bart's Singers, a small volunteer choir that sings every Sunday for the 9 a.m. church service. I then attended the Newcomer's Reception and met several members of the church staff and other new church members. They had a lovely spread, cheese and crackers and fruit, and a bar with wine and soda. After the reception, I went to choir practice and for two hours I was practically in heaven. This is a great group that reads music well and even takes a short coffee break in the middle of the rehearsal. I really enjoyed singing in this choir. In the middle of the rehearsal, I sat back and thought, "I am really happy right now." What a joy it is to make beautiful music!
And even better . . . my dad is coming tomorrow! He'll get to my apartment in Manhattan in the late evening and then we'll begin almost a week of fun and exciting New York activities including Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, the Museum of Natural History, and the David Letterman Show (that's right, I've got tickets for October 4th).
