Can You Hear Me Now?

It's Saturday now and with hindsight I know this week wasn't really all that bad. It surely did end well. On Friday afternoon I convinced four of my female colleagues to attend pay as you wish night with me at the Whitney Museum on the Upper East Side. I believe they all enjoyed it. We saw some very interesting, very wacky modern American art. The Whitney also has a great collection of Edward Hopper paintings which I thought were fantastic.
I gave my first quiz to my advanced class on Friday and, surprisingly, most of them did very well. My beginning class, on the other had, was still very difficult for me all week. My literacy coach, my direct supervisor actually came and observed me on Thursday afternoon. His comments were encouraging: you are many things working against you, the space you're working with is horrible, and, most importantly, be good to yourself. It is clear to me that some things must change in the way I run that class and my literacy coach has now committed to helping me figure some things out. I also gave a quiz to this challenging class and saw several of them blatantly cheating. Ahhhhhhhh!
Today has been relaxing and somewhat productive. I complete my graduate school assignments already and would love to make some parent phone calls, but my phone isn't working. That's right, my cell phone is broken. I dropped it yesterday night while I was out with the girls and it hasn't worked since. Fixing the phone, attending St. Bart's church, and write lots of lesson plans are all on the agenda for tomorrow.
