Rain, rain go away, Come again on a weekday

This weekend was fantastic, despite the deluge that came about on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, I headed downtown to South Street and walked around the hip neighborhood of downtown Philly. I found a great clothes consignment store and bought a shirt, a sweater, and a really nice gray blazer all for $25. I then headed to Aerosoles and picked up the cute, comfortable sneakers that I had ordered last week. I also decided to pick up two more pairs of comfortable shoes at a 2-for-1 sale so I think my feet will now survive (let's hope).
I ate dinner in the cafeteria and then took a short nap to prepare for my night on the town. Jessica and I, a corps member from Tucson, headed out at 10 pm and found our way to the Cuba Libre club and restaurant in the Old City of Philadelphia. We had a fantastic time dancing the night away, laughing, and letting loose. When we arrived at the restaurant, we asked for a table and were seated right on the edge of the dance area. We witnessed a spectacular floor show put on by two professional salsa dancers. Jessica and I both met a guy named Elmer from Honduras (that's two different Elmers from Honduras) and danced with them for a while. We made our way back to Temple at 1:30 am and slept very well in our creaky dorm beds.
Sunday was filled with lesson planning, poster making, and a little time at the museum. I made a goal for myself to have all my copies made by 3:00 so I could take advantage of free day at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I made it there an hour before closing and enjoyed every minute. The building itself is spectacular (the front steps are the ones Rocky runs up in the movie) and the collection is amazing. They featured many furniture and decorative pieces including paneling and archways. The museum was definitely a highlight of the weekend (perhaps the whole week).
After the museum, I ran into another TFA corps member who was making her way back to Temple. We decided to wait for the bus together right before it starting pouring. When I say pouring, I mean pouring. It was horrible! I had my umbrella but we were both still completely soaked. After we had waited 10 minutes, we tried to catch another bus. The driver actually stop where we were standing to tell us that she couldn't pick us up. It took her more time to explain why (not a good reason, by the way) than it would have to just let us get on. By this point, Aubrey and I were extremely frustrated and entirely soaked. We hailed a cab and spent a necessary $10 to make it back to the dorm in one piece. (By the way, I still think the museum was worth it.)
The remainder of my weekend was spent making posters (2 1/2 hours) while watching The Music Man. I went to bed before most everyone in the building all ready for my big day (everyone teaches a whole day only once during Institute and I am first). MONDAY - full teaching day! This is exciting stuff.
