Spaghetti sauce on white linen

In other news, I wore my beautiful new white linen shirt from my favorite clothing store, Anne Taylor Loft, to dinner tonight as I prepared for our Welcoming Ceremony. The plan, since my dorm is on the other side of the world, was to stay in that general area and do some reading before the Ceremony. This course of action was undermined by my great stupidity in selecting pasta and red sauce from the cafeteria line. One forkful dropping to the plate -- splatter -- and I was covered. Needless to say, I returned to my dorm, changed shirts and was subsequently inspired by the best of Teach For America.
Wendy Kopp, president and founder of TFA, addressed all 750 of us training at the Philadelphia Institute. She was kind, direct, and practical, reminding us all to keep the mission in mind: eliminating educational inequality in America.
