Late Breaking News

What does that really mean, "late breaking news"? In this case it means that the news is late to be related, but interesting nevertheless. It's been only three days since my dad departed and I miss him already. It was so wonderful to have someone to share the excitement of New York City with and the new life I have found here. My father truly enjoyed his visit and took over 1,500 pictures in a week. On the last day of his visit, I made a list of all we had seen and done and it took up two sides of a note page. Our adventures included Grand Central Station, the top of the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Times Square, Chinatown, Central Park, Brooklyn (by accident), the Brooklyn Bridge, City Hall Park, Ground Zero, Greenwich Village, Union Square, South Street Seaport, NYU, Washington Square Park, Rockefeller Center and more.
I have posted a few of the many pictures that he took this last week. I really enjoyed having a visitor at school and all the staff and students greeted him warmly. As we left one classroom to move to another, the students all clapped and said, "Goodbye, Mr. Petersen." The two of us also spent some time with Katie, taking her out to dinner one night, and my dad also met some of my friends at Rohr's one day. Although I did wear him out a bit, I know that he had a great time seeing New York with what he deemed was an excellent tour guide.
Now I am back to life as normal. The weather has changed suddenly and the forecast is cool and rainy for the week. I have another three day school week coming up (Columbus Day and Yom Kippur) and plan to thoroughly enjoy my time off while taking some time to plan and grade in the process. I sang with the choir at St. Bart's again today and look forward to rehearsal this Thursday.
