Flying away

To be perfectly honest, I can't wait to start TFA and become a New Yorker! At the moment, I'm still stuck in central Texas, studying for finals and fighting boredom. I just bought my one way ticket to New York! I'll be leaving Phoenix at 8 am on Saturday, June 18th and flying straight to Newark, NJ. There's some sort of train that goes right to Manhattan from the airport so it shouldn't be difficult to get to where I'm suppose to be on the 19th. I also received information today on region preference and, after reading the notes about the different areas, I preferenced region 10, Washington Heights and Harlem. It doesn't really matter where they decided to place me because I'm not all that familiar with the city, but I know that I would like to be in a predominately Spanish-speaking area. This survey asked for grade level placements as well and I marked that they should place me wherever I'm most needed. Part of me really wishes I knew all this stuff already, but then again it's kind of neat for it all to be a mystery.
Tomorrow my best friend from Baylor, Lauren, and I are heading to Salado, a cute little town south of Waco with great antique shops. I believe that of all the wonderful things I have experienced in college great friendships like the one of have with Lauren will be what I miss most. It's hard to leave behind the people that have been through so much with you. I wish I could take her everywhere with me, but I know I can't. I am so thankful that I live in this chaotic, faced-paced age that includes the innovations of rapid communication. Even if we can't have lunch together or sit of the couch and chat, we can always talk on the phone, email, and more. Still, it doesn't seem to make saying goodbye any easier.
So . . . I try to look forward and take all that I have learned and those who are dear to my heart along with me wherever I go.
